- Bob Thyne or Robert Brown Thyne was born in Glasgow on 09 January1920. He made his debut for Kilmarnock at centre-half on 12/10/1946 in a Scottish League Cup tie against Partick Thistle and went on to play for the Ayrshire club from 1946 to 1955 scoring 9 Goals in 282 appearances. He gained two wartime caps for Scotland v England in 1945 (twice) and played in the 1953 Scottish League Cup final. Kilmarnock FC historians describe him as "A classic stopper, big and strong, little got past him. Bob was cool and courageous under pressure and an inspiration to his team-mates. he played for Scotland while still suffering from wounds received in the D-Day landings. He was a Kilmarnock director and S.F.A. councillor…." He retired from playing in April 1955 and was a Director from 1956 to 1977. Died Kilmarnock 16/09/1986.
