Trivia
- Charlie Tully started his one month suspension on the 21st November. John McGrory was also suspended for a week. George Aitken, the Third Lanark player Tully had fouled to get sent off was transferred to Sunderland for £30,000 – a huge fee. Jimmy Delaney, ex Celt then with Aberdeen was also in the process of transferring to Hull City. That fell through and he eventually transferred to Falkirk.
- The only scorer to make it onto the list for Division A was Bertie Peacock with 6. Top scorer in the league was Fleming of East Fife and Kelly of Motherwell with 14. However the top scorer in Scotland was Billy McPhail of Clyde with 23 goals. It would take till 1956 for Celtic to sign him.
- Interestingly, he curious thing is that Berwick Rangers appeared with no kit at the ground that day and had to wear Celtic's away kit (white with shamrock). (Berwick) Rangers in Irish colours at Celtic Park.
- William Morrision got a trial game for Celtic at this game after which he played so well that he was signed up.
- Prior to the game Celtic were four off the bottom of the table (16 teams) with only Raith Rovers, Motherwell, Queen of the South and Stirling Albion below them. They were about to loose to another of those teams.
- Bobby Collins was registered for National Service in the mines. He would attend a training centre in Dunfermiline during the week but be available to play at the weekends. Ian McColl of Rangers was also doing the same.
- Two Celtic supporters were jailed and 6 others arrested before and after the game.
Review
