- Celtic had been due to play the rearranged fixture away to Morton but the game was again cancelled due to snow. The weather affected the programme throughout Scotland and this game only went ahead after a pitch inspection.
- Celtic were well down the League table at this point in the season with only 15 points from 18 games. They were four off the bottom with Airdrie, Third Lanark and Stirling Albion below them.The club believed that John McPhail would be back and able to play as centre forward as he had done in the past.
- Bonnar again took over the goalkeeper's jersey; Walsh had shaken off the 'flu; McPhail was fit and reinstated at centre forward; Peacock switched with Tully.
Review
Celtic attacked from the start. Walsh and Collins were getting good returns down the right hand side. Peacock and Collins combined for Walsh to send in a shot which was only partially parried and Walsh put the rebound away. as the game progressed the fog which had been lingering at the start, began to thicken. Steel beat Evans and Stein to a high ball to level the scores. Rollo and Bonnar then both went for the same high ball and Rollo's head flicked the ball onto the post and out for a corner. After 30 minutes, Tully who had not been that involved switched back to his normal outside left position with Peacock. This brought him more into the game and Peacock, Tully and Collins all had attempts before half time. The second half showed a lack of goal mouth action but plenty of good football. Midway through the second half Pattilo picked up a knock that required attention and tempers started to get a little frayed. celtic had the edge at the end but were defeated by some excellent goalkeeping from Brown in the Dundee goal, despite taking a knock himself.
