Trivia
- Debut for Frank Whyte as a 17 year old centre forward. He had scored two goals the previous week for the Reserves and was drafted in to the team.
- Jimmy Walsh was restored on the right wing
Review
Young Whyte found it hard going against the experienced Partick centre half Davidson but he kept going and was unlucky not to score at the end of the first half, with Ledgerwood having to pull off a magnificent save to keep it scoreless at half time. Peacock's goal was just reward for the greater endeavour Celtic put into the game. Ledgerwood made a sharp save from a fierce shot from Walsh but spilled the ball and Peacock was there to score from the loose ball. WEalsh was the best Celtic forward and Jock Stein was given a special mention for his solid defending
