Trivia
- Debut game for Tony Hepburn. Tony came in place of Charlie Tully who was at Windsor Park, Belfast playing against England. Tully scored both Ireland’s goals in a 2-2 draw and confounded his opposite number Alf Ramsey.
Review
Celtic scored in 2 minutes with a flyer from Peacock. New Bhoy Hepburn made the second, beating Redpath and Shaw before centring for Fallon to head home.
From one match report:
“What a happy mood Celtic expressed! Effervescence bubbled in the efforts of every player. Even Tony Hephurn, making his senior debt, played a series of touches that evoked nostalgic recollection of Delaney or Connelly on their best days. And to complete the meant picture Fallon, from one of the young winger’s passes headed a goal the prototype of which can be contained only in Jimmy McGrory’s album of “Famous Goals I Have Scored”.”
