- George Hunter took over in goal from John Bonnar; Mike Haughney came in as right back for Alec Boden who was out with 'flu; Willie Fernie was preferred at outside right to Tony Hepburn.
- The Scottish Football Players Union issued a claim to the Industrial Tribunal in London for an increase in league A player wages to £9 per week in the playing season and £5 per week in the closed season. The current wage stood at £260 per year.
- On 21st October Charlie Tully applied for a Public House License. Tully, of 174 Randall Street, Clarkston, sought permission to hold a license for the public house at 247 Cumberland Street. The current tenant had also sold another pub to John McPhail.
- This was an all-ticket game with the maximum attendance to be 40,000.
- The reports state Tully as being booked in the last minute of the match for losing his temper with Conn for yet another foul. Tully had a brilliant game consistently beating Hearts player or as the reports put it " Tully going one way with the ball and the Hearts defenders going the other." He was consistently fouled all game. This was also the game that Tully had tobacco spat over him by a Hearts fan (An Alphabet of the Celt, p 146. – a 37-year old Edinburgh glazier was eventually fined £2 for breach of the peace on 13th November for this act of gross behaviour.). It's little wonder that Charlie 'lost the place' before the end of the game.

Review
A hefty game where Celtic had a good number of chances. Tully was on form and the interplay on the left wing between him and Bertie Peacock was a joy to behold. The play to'd and fro'd with neither team consistently good or either getting the upper hand. If anything both teams were over-elaborating in front of goal and allowing the respective defenses to nip in and win the ball. Hearts goal 5 minutes from time was unexpected and Celtic had had the majority of play and chances in the second half. Tully was booked in the last minute of the game. The general view was that Celtic were unlucky to lose.
