Trivia
- A return for Jimmy Mallan; the same front line as previous game but yet more tinkering with the half backs saw Bertie Peacock back as left half and, with the absence of Alec Boden (torn kneecap) and Sean Fallon (broken arm), both injured, in came Mallan and Meechan. Fallon was found to have broken his arm during the Falkirk game.
- Stein took over as captain
Review
An injury hit Celtic took the park to face one of their bogie teams of the season (the other being Partick Thistle). Despite lots of pressure in the first half right from kick off Celtic could not put the ball away. Then, against the run of play Raith got a goal. A Tully cross was intercepted and fed to Copland who went on to shoot past Hunter. Celtic attacked relentlessly. Tully and Duncan changed sides with no real extra advantage. In the second half Celtic continued where they lefty off piling the pressure onto Raith. The Fifers hung on grimly to the end to come away with a shock victory.
