- Alec Boden was back from injury having played with the reserves against Dundee the previous week without mishap. Peacock was dropped despite Fernie having had a poor game against Queen of the South.
- Celtic had never won a cup tie at Stirling Albion's Annfield ground.
It looked like Sean Fallon, recently returned (and in a short period) from a broken arm had broken the same arm again against Stirling Albion. After the game he headed off to be X-Ray'd. This showed that the original break had again developed a crack, probably as a consequence of coming back too soon.
Review
Celtic attacked strongly whilst the half back managed to mop up any Bino's break outs. Collins and Fernie both had shots turned away. McGrory got the opening goal from a melle after a Tuylly cross. McGrory had a second effort just after cleared off the line. After 30 minutes Stirling had a shot on goal which forced Bonnar to do something. The Bino's put in a little more effoprt in the second half and started to come into the game. Mcgrory had the ball in the net on 53 minutes but the goal was disallowed for some reason. John Jack looked to be the weak link in defense and Stirling concentrated on him. Though Albion tried the Celtic defense were up to the task until 8 miutes from the end when Bonnar misjudged a lofted shot and Chalmers stole in to score.
