Trivia

  • The only change to the team was a return of Stein at centre half. The game was played in sunny conditions with a good surface for play. No one had a clear idea of the outcome pre-game as Celtic were starting to play together again and Rangers, after a dodgy start to the season were going well.
  • The game was policed by over 300 of Strathclyde's finest in and around the ground. There were also plain clothes police in amongst the crowd. The Chief Constable appeled over the tannoy for all banners and flags should be kept down. This was generally ignored by both sets of fans.
  • On March 12th Celtic transferred John McAlindon to Worcester City.

Review

An early goal from Rangers allowed them to sit back and control the game. Collins got very little out of the Rangers defense.
