Trivia
- A replay played at Hampden Park with a 6:30 pm kick off.
- Rangers had beaten Clyde in the other first round tie the night before, thus the semi final was set up with Celtic facing Rangers.

Review
But for a gifted goal this might have gone the way of the previous game against Queen's and the result been determined on the toss of a coin. Celtic were almost as bad finishing in this game as they had been so far this season. The first half was described as 'tiresome'. Weir, the Queen's Park goalkeeper marred an otherwise excellent game in the 48th minute by failing to hold a Collins cross which Whyte gratefully accepted and smashed into the roof of the net. Once more the forwards failed to capitalise. Frequently Collins and Mochan changed wings to no real advantage. Evans played the role of central distributor. Commonly passes went astray.
After the goal Queen's virtually dominated the game but with the same kind of performance from their forwards as seen from Celtic's. Bonnar was called on to make only three saves. Ten minutes from the end Bonnar collided with Ward and had to be stretchered off. Rollo went in goal for the last 10 minutes and when Bonnar returned two minutes from time with a stitched nose, it was as a left winger.
Excluding the Friendly against Bohemians, Celtic had so far scored 3 goals in 5 games.
