Review
Celtic scored after 7 minutes when Fernie tricked two players before slipping the ball to Mochan to score. They soon had a second from a move with Tully and Mochan crossing for Walsh to finiash. The Dundee goal was under constant threat from Celtic's forwards. Dundee pulled a goal back when Merchant, who was recently arrived in the Dens Park side, finished a neat move. Mochan scored the third from a free kick when the ball glanced off a defender and into the net. fernie got the fourth with a volley from 20 yards out. At half time the Celts were up 4-1. In the second half Fernie had the ball in the net only for the goal to be ruled out through offside against Walsh. Celtic were still the more dangerous side and Mochan hit the post. Eight minutes from time Walsh and Fernie bamboozled the Dundee defense leaving Higgins free to take the fifth goal.
The win moved Celtic up to second in the table with both Hearts and Queen of the South drawing.
