- Only one point was required from the game to make sure of winning the League.
- Celtic had a poor away record in the season (lost 7, only won 6) so this game was no certainty.
- Only Rangers could match their points total by winning all their remaining games but Celtic had a far superior goal average.
- Hearts were to finish second in the league.
- Evans, Stein and Fernie were selected for the Scottish League team to face the English League team at Stamford Bridge on 28th April. Higgins was also selected as a Reserve.
- The Glasgow Herald grudging, verging on spewing at the Celtic title win
Review
Only Rangers could match their points total by winning all their remaining games and Celtic had a far superior goal average.
Saying this the game was far from the highlight of the season.
Celtic had played better before and lost and Hibernian had played worse and won, yet at no stage did it look like Celtic would lose, although note that Celtic had a very poor away record this season so this result was no given.
Bonnar had another one of his outstanding games.
