Review
Two goals down in five minutes! McPartand beat Haughney in the 4th minute and Howitt had all the time in the world to pick his spot. A minute later Mckenzie crossed from the other side and Smith beat Bonnar with an unstoppable header. Tully started the move for the Celtic goal before crossing and Walsh headed home. Just before the interval Celtic were level. Tull again provided the cross and this time it was Bobby Collins there to fire home. Thiongs stood square at 2-2 at half time but it was Thistle who had had the better of the play and acclimatised to the mud better.
Both teams started the second half going all out for the win. Celtic missed a good chance to go ahead and Thistle got the third goal on 49 minutes. Ledgerwood performed some good saves to keep the score down and on 69 minutes Thistle got a fourth goal. A little of the spark went out of the Celtic team and Thistle played thereafter within themsleves.
Celtic had met a team with comparable levels of stamina and fitness. Though they fought back from two goals down to be level at half time they never really played as a team which was concerning. In particular Evans and Peacock were not at full strength.
