Trivia
- Jock Stein was out so Evans moved to centre half and Michael Conroy came in as right half. Up front Jimmy Walsh was moved to his least favoured position at outside right whilst John Reid came back in at inside right, and Neil Mochan came back into the side at inside left with Fernie dropping out again unfit. Bobby Collins was also unfit.
Review
Celtic scored in the 27th minute when Reid beat Gray and Gallacher, and then lofted a ball into the goal which confused Brown enough to miss the ball. Chalmers almost equalised just before half time with a shot that hit the post. Dundee started the second half as they finished the first and hit the post again. Brown beat out a Mochan shot from point blank range. Dundee pushed hard for an equaliser but it would not come. The luck for once was with Celtic.
With two games left to play and Aberdeen winning this weekend against Clyde the title was Aberdeen's. Nobody could now catch them.
