Trivia
- Debut first team game for Matt McVittie. Tully was out with a thigh strain picked up against Falkirk.
- Played on a Tuesday at Celtic Park. In the other game, Partick Thistle met Queen's Park at Firhill on Wednesday night. The Maryhill Magyar's win set up a semi final tie on Friday September 9th at Firhill. Both clubs asked for this date even though there was a full League programme the next day, reckoning that as it was pay day there would be a better turn out than a Tuesday or Wednesday night.
Review
Jimmy Walsh suffered a leg injury (in fact it turned out to be a twisted knee) in the first minute and switched with Mochan. His first goal came from a 25 yard net burster. His second and third were set up by Collins passes. Haughney scored a penalty in the last minute after a foul on McVittie, who had a good game and had a goal chalked off for offside by one of his team mates. Hewkins performed wonders in the Clyde goal to keep the score down especially with Mochan in goal-scoring mood. Billy McPhail was back in the Clyde side for the first time after nearly a season out with various injuries.
