Review
After the high of the result at Ibrox, this turned into an embarrassing defeat and hubris for Celtic. Baird, who had been a liability for Rangers at left half had an excellent game at inside left scoring two goals. Stein's injury ten minutes before half time effectively reduced Celtic to 10 men for the rest of the game with Evans going to centre half and Stein going to outside left. Collins moved in one and McVittie was at outside right, McPhail dropping back to right half. Baird's first goal was well taken and he increased the lead at the start of the second half when Celtic failed to clear a cross of his own making. The last quarter of an hour was all Rangers and they scored twice more with Scott also hitting post and crossbar in quick succesion.
With only 1/8th of a goal in it, it was all still there to play for in qualification for the Quarter Finals.
