Trivia
- Bobby Collins failed to shake off the knee knock he had picked up against Airdrie and had to withdraw from the Scotland party to play England. Nor too was Jim Sharkey and John Higgins allowed in for this game. Collins knee knock turned out to be far more serious than had been tought with torn knee ligaments diagnosed.
Review
A disjointed side and an unconvincing one too. The forwards seldom functioned as a unit and the defense was suspect. Things did not bode well for the Cup Final. Beattie completely mistimed the Yorston shot to give Aberdeen the equaliser. Aberdeen though, were as ineffective as Celtic and far too casual in their approach and the whole game was a poor advertisement for Scottish football in general.
