Trivia
- The end of season games were coming fast and furious in an attempt to get all the teams and games squared away.
- John Bonnar was restored to the Celtic goal with Beattie needing time to recover from a shoulder injury first picked up in the friendly against Manchester Utd. Sean Fallon was fit again and displaced Jim Kennedy after his debut game against Partick Thistle. Up front, the forward line was re-modelled with injuries to Tully and Smith. Jim Sharkey was fit and came in at centre forward as Mochan moved out to the wing to replace Tully. Jimmy Walsh came in at inside left.
Review
A re-jigged forward line failed to gel and Lawrie Reilly picked up an easy hatrick. The first goal came when he latched onto a poor pass back from Goldie. The second came from a rebound and the third from a good passing move from the Hibs forwards.
