Trivia
- An unchanged side from the team against Falkirk in the previous game.
- At centre forward Forres had Alistair MacRae who was a part-timer and was with the RAF stationed at nearby Lossiemouth. Inside left John Preston and left half Clark were also with the RAF.
Review
The tall MacRae was well bottled up by Jack. Higgins scored the first after the ball bounced around in the Forres area.
Mochan got the second after good work by Collins.
Twenty seconds into the second half Celtic went further ahead when a lob from Bobby Evans landed at Billy McPhail's feet in the area.
McPhail scored a further two for a second half hatrick; the first from a Higgins cross and the second from a mazy dribble from Fernie.
