- A match arranged the previous month and intended to be a titbit floodlit game before the England – Scotland international at Wembley on the Saturday, so originally intended to be played on 5/4/57. The man behind the game was Neil McBain, Watford manager, who hoped to gain a good attendance from Scots travelling down for the international. To make the Bhoys feel at Home Neil McBain arranged for haggis to be supplied from Ayr for an after match meal for the teams.
- The draw was made for the Glasgow Charity Cup and Celtic would meet Rangers in the first game at Ibrox on 1st May. Cup Holders Third Lanark would meet Partick Thistle at Firhill on the same day with Queen's Park and Clyde getting byes to the second round.
