Trivia
- Peacock was back from his international jaunt freeing up Mochan to move forward again – only he was injured; With Byrne also injured, John McAlindon came in and Eric Smith made a rare appearance with Tully retaining his place at outside left.
- Billy McPhail's ankle injury was proving slow to respond to treatment. McPhail was prone to ankle injuries and known to be a slow healer. His loss disrupted the forward line but allowed for other players to get a try out and the management to attempt different things.
Review
McAlindon got his first Celtic senior goal of the season when he picked up a clear ball and raced through the middle. With the keeper advancing he cooly lobbed the ball over his head and into the net.
