Trivia
- Bobby Evans and Bobby Collins both played for Scotland against Hungary at Hampden Park on the night before this game in a 1-1 draw.
- The game was ‘won’ on the toss of a coin by Rangers after it finished 90 minutes at 1-1. They would meet Clyde at Hampden Park on Monday 12th May.
- British Tory PM Harold McMillan meets the Celtic team in 1958 at Ibrox. I remember my dad talking about this and saying he was the only guy to be booed by both ends. Unusually for that time Celtic won this one.
Review
A game of the proverbial two halves with Rangers bossing it in the first half and Celtic taking on that role in the second. bertie Peacock equalised a max Murray goal with a 25 yard screamer However despite superiority in play in the second half Celtic failed to find another goal and at 90 minutes the scores were level. With no time added and no replay the result rested on the toss of a coin, Bobby Shearer calling correctly to see Rangers through to the final.
