Review
The game was played in steady rain. The fact that Celtic had qualified and a win for St Mirren here would not alter their position in the table no doubt affected the merits of the game. St Mirren though were clearly determined to put on a show for their supporters at Love Street. celtic were awarded an early openalty to take the lead in the 8th minute when McGugan stuck out a hand to a cross. Collins duly despatched the ball. They went further ahead in the 25th minute with a goal from Auld after interplay with Sammy Wilson. Bryceland pulled one back for St Mirren before St Mirren cut loose in the final five minutes with Gemmell and Lapsley scoring to make it 3-2 to St Mirren at the interval.
After the break it was all St Mirren.
