Review
After gaining a quick goal against Falkirk earlier in the month it was Celtic's turn to take the early knock back. Ex-Celt Billy Craig did the damage beating Smith and Mochan before crossing for Allan to finish. It took a quarter of an hour for Celtic to get going and it was Fernie that supplied the impetus. Byrne had several chances to pull one back but it fell to a dodgy penalty decision. Wilson was fouled and Auld stepped up to convert the spot kick. The second goal duly followed when Auld himself was cut down on the edge of the box and a quick thinking Mochan took the ball and scored directly from the kick. For the rest of the half Celtic were on top.
The second half was fairly dull apart from Auld's play. And it was him that won the second penalty for handball. He took the kick himself to put Celtic three goals up.
Hearts marched on at the top of the table. Celtic had risen to 5th in the table but it was particularly tight at the top so far. Queen of the South were bottom of the table with 4 points from 9 games.
