Review
The game started fairly evenly with chances at both ends. The whole of the Dunfermiline front line began to get the better of their Celtic counterparts and it was only Conway up front for Celtic that appeared to offer any outlet. More and more pressure began to be exerted on the Celtic goal, though Cannachan too had to be alert to counteract Conway and Auld, who was his usual combatative and argumentative self. At the end of the first half there was no score but Dunfermiline clearly had the better of Celtic.
The second half continued as the first had ended and Celtic just could not get started. Celtic’s attacks and shots were being cooly and competently dealt with by Connachan. Rattray scored for Dunfermiline after neat footwork from their veteran centre forward Watson. Celtic pressed again and could have had a penalty when Conway found himself the filling in a sandwich. Despite piling on the pressure they failed to find the goal and in the end Dunfermiline were worthy of their one goal victory.
