Trivia
- This game had been postponed from 3rd January when the game was called off because of a frozen pitch at Celtic Park. Celtic's only game between the 2nd January and this one was a hastily arranged Friendly against Girvan Amateurs. The thaw started on the 19th and grounds started to become playable. This was a Wednesday game with kick off at 2:45 pm.
- The only change from the 2nd January side was that Beattie found himself dropped and Frank Haffey was in goal instead.
- Kilmarnock lodged a claim with the Scottish League for compensation for the return they received for this game. With an attendance of only 8,000, thy argued that they should be paid the difference between the returns for the Wednesday game and the figure which would likely have turned up and paid if the game had been played on the original Saturday
Review
Kilmarnock started well and had a penalty claim turned down in the first minute. Haffey did well in goal in those early minutes making good saves. At half time it was still 0-0 but Haffey had been the busier of the two keepers despite the Celtic forwards crafting some good passing moves. Peacock scored a great goal from all of 30 yards out to win Celtic the opener. Three minutes from time Peacock pulled out a replica of his scoring shot. This time Dougan beat Colrain to the ball but his header flew past Brown in the Kilmarnock goal.
