Trivia

  • Two days after losing the Scottish Cup Semi Final to St Mirren Celtic were in action again against Raith Rovers away on the Monday afternoon. The nature of the defeat to St Mirren would sure to have had a lasting effect.
  • In came John Colrain who had watched the semi final from the Hampden stands; in too was Bertie Auld, brought back in from the cold.

Review

A dull game by all accounts with the action confined to a spell in the second half which saw three goals. Raith's first came from Conn after 17 minutes, a low hard shot which had been interceopted and turned out by Smith only for Conn to pick it back up and fire home. Three goals came in the second half – two for Raith and a penalty for Celtic.
