Review
Following on from the emphatic win against Motherwell everyone was expecting more of the same in this game. For the first time in the season Celtic showed an unchanged side from the previous game. Celtic started fast and Auld hit the post. Most of the attacking came from Celtic but Hibs were not without their chances. Peacock got the first goal with a 20 yard shot. Young for Hibs then went down after a tackle and had to leave the field. Celtic almost immediately got a second when Jackson headed home a Smith free kick. Young made it back but Celtic were looking the class team and 2 up at half time.
Hibs came out the better side and in two minutes Baker equalised. With a fast game now being played, Celtic responded and Colrain scored a terrific third for Celtic taking the ball 30 yards before unleashing a great shot to beat Wilson. Hibs turn to respond and they immediately got a second to keep in the game. Hibs piled on the pressure and Celtic withstood till five minutes from time when Johnstone headed an equaliser.
An exciting and fast game from two talented sides.
An interesting start to the season. Celtic had started poorly but the signs were that this young inexperienced team were starting to get it together and play as a unit.
