Trivia
- Neil Mochan was fit again having recovered from his knee knock and came in at left back. John Colrain who had suffered a leg knock in the previous game against Ayr Utd was considered fit to start. Jimmy Wardhaugh, the Dunfermiline and Scotland inside left had just made a well publicised move away from Hearts with whom he had made his name and been a valued player.
- Scotland was hit by ice and snow on the Friday before this game.
Review
Both sides opened well before Celtic took an upper hand with Bertie Auld having a great game. On eleven minutes Divers scored the first of his goals, a swift pass from Colrain setting him up nice. Two minutes later he had his second with a self-made goal and on the half hour he finished off a neat inter-passing move between Smith and Jackson. The Pars refused to knuckle under and three minutes later they pulled one back through Melrose and then just before half time Wardhaugh pulled a second back.
Both teams went all out for another goal after the break but it was not till fifteen minutes from the end and decisively for Celtic. Jackson headed home an Auld cross.
