Trivia
- Mochan was back fit again from his back strain at Elgin. Colrain too had shaken off his leg knock and Jim Divers was back from his rest.
Review
Bobby Evans gave a peerless performance and snuffed out most of the Jags attacks. Bertie Auld picked up an ankle injury after 24 minutes and was a walking injured for much of the game. The Thistle defense were active and the only reason the game was kept to two goals only. McNeill and Peacock also played well feeding the forwards. Haffey had a bit of a mare especially early on and but for woeful shooting Celtic could have been behind by the half hour. Eric Smith got the first goal heading home an Auld corner. Jim Divers made the second with a determined dribble before setting up Colrain.
