Trivia
- Played on the Monday night as a floodlit game. This was a postponed fixture from earluier in the season.
- Evans was rested for this game with the usual arrangement of Billy McNeill moving to centre and Pat Crerand coming in at right half. Back in came Alec Byrne for the lacklustre Conway and also in for Divers was Stevie Chalmers. Divers had picked up an ankle injury.
- There was much speculation regarding Celtic signing wing half Johnny Kelly from Crewe Alexandra. Kelly had previously played for Third Lanark. He was duly signed on the 30th March.
Review
Celtic made up for the lethargy shown in the previous outing against Stirling Albion and started this one straight out the traps. Mochan was the player on form making three goals and scoring from the penalty spot. The passing was fast and accurate and was the making of Colrain and Chalmer's first goals. Mochan dummied a Smith pass for Colrain to get the first. Both Smith and Byne hit the posts in the first half. Neil laid on the pass for Chalmers to get his first goal and after the break he laid on an accurate pass from the byeline for Chalmers to get his second. Robb handled the ball in the area for the Celtic penalty but by that time Celtic had taken their foot off the gas.
