Trivia
- The League campaign kicked off with a Wednesday night game away at Rugby Park against a Kilmarnock team that were playing well and bright from a successful pre-season tour of America. Celtic were unchanged apart from Fallon coming in for the injured Haffey who was nursing a broken hand in plaster.
Review
An excellent game by all accounts with Celtic showing themselves well. Crerand was becoming a master of the long pass as well as being defensively sound. For 25 minutes Killie penned Celtic back but with Mochan's first corner of the game Carroll scored an excellent goal with a first time shot. An excellent game of skill and duels all over the park then followed. Hughes found Willie Toner a much more canny opponent and eventually switched positions with Neil Mochan. This move paid off and 10 minutes from the end Mochan beat Toner and set himself up to score past Brown to give Celtic a deserved draw. Killie's goals came ion the second half both from McInally.
