Trivia

  • Following the bruising encounter with Sedan in the 'Friendly' Celtic players all went to Seamill for a day of convalescence. The 'Friendship' Cup proved to be far from that with Motherwell experiencing as close to you came for on-field fisticuffs in 1960 in their game against Toulouse with again a number of French players receiving yellows.
  • Duncan MacKay of Celtic and George Herd of Clyde both missed the match due to international coommitments in a match Scotland lost 2-0 to Wales.

Review

Celtic went ahead with a well worked goal involving Divers and Chalmers with Bertie Auld heading home. Clyde counter attacked and put pressure on the Celtic goal but to no avail. Carroll got the second with a hint of offside and just before the interval Peacock put away a penalty after Auld had his feet swept away.
