Trivia

  • Frank Haffey and Duncan MacKay were included in a representative Glasgow side which met a representative Sheffield side at Celtic Park under the lights on the night of Wednesday 16th November. Their were no selections in the Glasgow side from Rangers, who it might be added were making all the running in the League title and still in the European Cup and about to face a Borussia Monchengladbach side. Glasgow won 5-0 watched buy a poor turnout of 7,000.
  • Neil Mochan was transferred to Dundee Utd. He had been sidelined from the first team since the 1st October and had been playing for the Reserves. It was also rumoured that John Colrain was about to leave the club. Sure enough on the 18th the signing by Clyde of John Colrain was announced.
  • With Pat Crerand again fit, he resumed at right half after experiments with Mike Jackson and John Kurila in the time when he was out injured.
  • Played on a day of fog throughout the country.
  • Both the A side Reserves and the third Combined Reserves sides were in action – the A's against Dunfermuiline A's winning 3-2 and the Combined against Stenhousmuir winning 3-0. It is a interesting record not only to see who was NOT in the first team but was at the club at the time. Those without links below failed to play a representative first team game. Reserves: Connor, Donnelly, O'Neill, Jackson, McNamee, Clark, (Newman), Gallacher, Conway, Byrne, Hughes. The third side were Fallon, Rob Reilly, Jim Upton, Stephen Lynch, Cushley, Thompson, Tommy Carmichael, Brown, Rob Paton, Don McMillan, Roy Sherry.

Review

Away again to Jocjk Stein's reinvigorated Dunfermiline. Celtic went ahead early after a mix up in the Dunfermiline defense. Dickson got an equaliser with a headed goal from a Miller crossn in the fortieth minute only for Celtic to head upfield immediately on restart Chalmers put Celtic ahead again with a brilliant individual goal.
In the second half Carroll and Chalmers both missed opportunities to put Celtic further ahead and as play deteriorated Dickson scored an equaliser for the game to end even at 2-2.
