- Celtic were pushing to sign Ian Crawford, a winger, from Hearts. He had been due to be part of a swap for John Colrain, but Hearts decided they diod not want to part with the winger to Celtic and Colrain moved to Clyde. Jimmy McGrory told the papers that Celtic were still interested in Crawford.
- Celtic were unchanged for this game from the side that had played away at Dunfermiline the previous week.
Review
After Celtic scored an early goal, St Johnstone clawed their way back into the game and scored an equaliser through the injured McKinven and ten minutes from the end Gardiner scored a winner. This gave St Johnstone a run of eight games without defeat and marked the end of a miserable month for Celtic with just two draws and two losses. The result ut them twelth in the table with St Johnstone above them in ninth position. In a top-of-the-table clash, Rangers were beaten at Ibrox by Kilmarnock, but remained on top with 20 points just ahead of Kilmarnock on 19. behind them came Third Lanark, Partick Thistle and Motherwell.
