Trivia
- An unchanged team for Celtic; St Johnstone, who had drawn with Hibernian, recast their forward line with only ex-Celt Matt McVittie and Ian Gardiner retained with debuts for Grant and bell.
- A Wednesday night game with a 7:30pm kick off. A strong wind blew and affected the play of both teams.
- During a poor performance Celtic fans slow handclap the team.
Review
A poor game particularly from the Celtic forwards who were responsible for wasteful shooting and poor passing. Celtic had plenty of chances and managed to squander them all. Hughes eventually switched positions with Chalmers to no avail. St Johnstone scored through ex-Ranger Grant who picked up a rebound from the crossbar of a McKinven shot and scored past Connor. MacKay picked up a leg knock during the game.
