Trivia

- Pat Crerand's time in purdah from both the SFA and Celtic for sending offs for Scotland in Czechoslovakia and in a 5-a-side tournament at Falkirk continued with a visit to the SFA Referees Committee on the 29th August. Also due to appear was Mike Jackson who was sent off in the same Falkirk tournament.

- The injured MacKay and Haffey were both making progress and it was expected that MacKay would make the game.
Review
A fine game which both teams played excellent fast and well-controlled football.
Though Kille went 3-1 up early in the second half Celtic never dropped their work rate and soon pulled a goal back with Chalmers scoring and from that point to the end it was a constant battle between the Celtic forwards and the Kilmarnock defense. McInally scored early for Kilmarnock with a low shot. Then came two quick goals, Celtic's equaliser on the half hour scored by John Divers with a close range effort was countered by a Muir with a spectacular 20 yard strike.
