Review
Both teams started reasonably well with Thistle if anything quicker out of the blocks. Connor was the more active goalkeeper but Hughes was gradually pressing into the game. Mcbride and Smith were combining well for Thistle and some last minute tackles were required. Hughes opened the scoring from a long pass from Jackson before beating his man and the goalkeeper to shoot into an empty net. Thistle counter-attacked without success and it stood 1-0 at the interval.
The second half saw McBride equalise, only for Hughes to score an opportunists centre forward goal, followed by a third from Carroll. Four minutes from time Smith was pulled down by John Clark and the penalty was converted.
