Review
A tame opening to the game which saw misses from Hughes and Chalmers and Jackson. on 13 minutes Hughes hit a power drive from the angle of the area which cannoned in off the inside of the far post. That signalled an onslaught of the Dundee Utsd goal and only gradually did they get back into the game. Five minutes before the interval Dundee Utd pulled back a surprise goal Gillespie picked up the ball in the centre and strolled unchallenged before unleashing a low shot from 25 yards that nestled in the corner of the net. Back came Celtic and before the break Chalmers scored from a Hughes pass. After the interval Celtic continued to dominate the match and Jackson made it three when he shot home a ball which rebounded from the crossbar from a Divers header.
