- Billy McNeill, Pat Crerand and Duncan MacKay played for Scotland at Hampden defeating Czechoslovakia 3-2 on 26th September

- There were minor eruptions of bad behaviour in the crowd following Falkirk's 9th minute opener and 10 arrests were made.
Review
Falkirk went ahead on 9 minutes through a decent passing move which saw Duchart finishing and giving Haffey no chance. This silenced the singing Celtic supporters that made up the bulk of the crowd and 5 were arrested when fights broke out on the terraces. Celtic went looking for an equaliser which came five minutes later when Hughes headed a Carroll cross neatly past Whigham in the Falkirk goal. Further arrests from the crowd were made before half time but the score on the field remained unchanged.
A pass back from Kennedy was short and allowed Oliver in to score. Two minutes later Murray scored from a corner which came from a mis-directed MacKay pass. Celtic pressed the Falkirk goal but had no answer despite switching Hughes and Carroll, though Divers had a good effort saved on the line.
