Review
Despite a heavy frost on the terraces and ground, the pitch was playable and the game went ahead despite playing the first 20 minutes in a blizzard. Conditions were slippery underfoot and the pitch began to freeze solid through the game with snow flying everywhere. Celtic adapted to and made use of the conditions better than Thistle. Crerand started many of the attacks with accurate passes from deep, with Price also adding to Thistle's defensive wobbles. Hughes got the first goal winning a header from a Price pass out and turning his marker before cooly side-footing home. Jackson headed the second home from a Carroll cross.
In the second half despite Thistle hitting the crossbar twice it was Chalmers that got the goal taking a Crerand pass and shooting home. Divers finally got the goal he had been threatening to get and Chalmers got his second. All the second half goals were made by Crerand passes.
