- The snow which had started on the Friday night before the Partick Thistle game and continued through the weekend, continued to fall throughout Scotland causing disruption. The Scottish League Cup Final replay at Hampden was called off due to a frozen pitch and re-scheduled for the end of the season.
- The First Round of the Scottish Cup, which had been brought forward this season, was due to be played on Saturday 9th December and Celtic were to face Cowdenbeath at Celtic Park. The game was postponed along with many other due to a frozen pitch. This was the re-scheduled game on the Wednesday afternoon.
- Again an unchanged team for Celtic though Billy McNeill was carrying a heel injury aggravated by playing for the Scotland U23's in a 0-0 draw.
- Despite the postponements the draw for the second round was made with either Celtic of Cowdenbeath opisking up an away tie to Morton.
Review
A dominant Celtic. Jackson headed the first; Hughes scored with a lobbed ball. In the second half Chalmers scored a cracking goal to make it three; Black then pulled one back for 'beath heading past a rooted Haffey. Clamers and Divers added to further goals as the Celts fitness showed.
