Trivia
- The draw was made for the next round of the Scottish Cup. Celtic were drawn at home to Third Lanark. The other Quarter Final ties saw Stirling Albion v Motherwell, Kilmarnock v either Aberdeen or Rangers (Rangers won the replay 5-1) and Raith Rovers or St Mirren v Dunfermiline or Stenhous'muir.
- For Celtic, Frank Brogan came in for his debut game with part-timer Mike Jackson rested and Chalmers moved in one from outside right. Hearts showed two changed from the cup tie team with Polland coming in at right back and Gordon at inside left.
Review
Celtic monompolised the play in the first half but only had Divers early goal to show for all their efforts and territorial advantage and just before the half time whistle hearts were unlucky not to pull at least one goal back.
Hearts did go ahead in the second half. Hughes grabbed an equaliser for Celtic from a Brogan Cross – actually scoring as opposed to missing the many chances he had during this game.
