Trivia
- A Monday night game.
- Jim Kennedy was still recovering from a leg strain and John Hughes was out with Bobby Carroll coming in for a start as centre forward.
Review
Celtic were four goals up after 22 minutes. Carroll made the pass that gave Divers the first goal and the favour was returned for the second in 13 minutes. Carroll forced the move on for Chalmers to get the third and he helped again to give Chalmers the fourth goal. After that Celtic took their foot off the gas. McNeill controlled the defense and Crerand was back to his norm spraying accurate passes forward to set up attacks. Clunie missed a penalty for St Mirren in the 72nd minute.
