Trivia
- An unchanged side for Celtic.
Review
Dundee Utd started well but gradually Celtic got into the game and were getting their shots in. On the half hour it looked as though Celtic were robbed of a goal when a Lennox shot was kneed out after beating Mackay with the referee saying the the ball had not crossed the goal line. Celtic piled on the pressure but Mackay stood firm in the Dundee Utd goal.
The second half continued in the same vein with Mackay denying Celtic time and again but Haffey also now having to be alert. Mackay was beaten four times with the bar saving him each time.
So another fruitless year for Celtic in the League Cup going out at the table stage.
