- Celtic flew out to Zagreb on a charter flight from Renfrew Airport on the Sunday after the St Johnstone game. The team were treated to a reception at the City Hall in Zagreb on the Tuesday.
- Reputed Celtic fan Sean Connery was currently in cinemas starring as James Bond in From Russia With Love and he visits Zagreb in the film at the same time Celtic were playing in Zagreb.
- At the official dinner after the game the club were given an inscribed silver coffee service and each player was given a quality leather briefcase.
Review
A small crowd turned out in the 60,000 capcity stadium. It was a freezing night and conditions were hard.
Zagreb attacked from the start and Celts had a scare when Lamza hit a post but Murdoch sealed the tie with a goal in 41 minutes with a powerful shot after a suspected hand ball.
Zagreb continued to press and were good value for their two goals but Celtic were safely through to the quarter finals where they will face Slovan Bratislava of Czechoslovakia.
