Trivia
- The cost of the Leixoes game was not as heavy as had been expected given the kicking and fouling resorted to by the Portugese. Charlie Gallacher was definetly out with the ankle injury which had not been inflicted by the Portugese. Billy McNeill had had the plaster cast removed from his ankle and was back in light training. Jimmy Johnstone and Steve Chalmers both had leg knocks but were available.
- As expected John Divers replaced Charlie Gallacher at inside left and John Hughes was preferred to Bobby Lennox.
- Frank Haffey headed down to Swindon to look at the terms and conditions offered by the English club.
