Review
Celtic struggled at home to Third Lanark here and it didn’t take long for the whistles and jeering to start reeling out from the Celtic Park terraces, semi final win or no semi final win for this team selection. The punters soon made their displeasure known.
There appeared little sense of urgency about the game and Third Lanark were hardly challenging in front of goal. Shots peppered the Thirds goal but most were over or wide and those on target were dealt with by Evan Williams.
The second half saw more of the same with a greater sense of urgency from Celtic but just as poor in the on-target stakes. Nine minutes from time, good Chalmers lead up work saw him pass to John Hughes whose shot was deflected by Duncan MacKay past his keeper and into the goal.
