Celtic attacked from the off and Chalmers had a shot cleared off the line by Motherwell's young keeper Peter McCloy. Motherwell subbed Howieson for Lindsay with Hunter going to inside right where he proceeded to cause trouble for Celtic. In the 68th minute Delaney advanced unchallenged before laying on a pass for Ian Thomson to score from. Chalmers scored for Celtic right at the end of the game.
