Review
The Bhoys ran Aberdeen ragged and helped themselves to a seven goal haul. All the forweards scored with Jinky and Lennox both getting a brace. John Hughes scored the pick of the goals with the fourth, beating four defenders and the goalkeeper to tap home into an empty net. The rout started in the third minute with a Bobby Lennox goal. Jimmy Johnstone soon added a second from a Lennox pass. Lennox added a third three minutes later and Hughes added his solo effort to make it 4-0 at half time. Murdoch had to clear off the line in the second half but replied with a second goal from Jinky before Bertie Auld and Joe McBride made their contributions to an overwhelming win.
A good month for Celtic having won through to the semi final of the League Cup and won the first round first leg tie of the European Cup Winners Cup. Their one defeat was the 2-1 loss to Rangers in the League at Ibrox. This saw them sitting second in the League behind Hibs.
